Leatherworking
The leather work represents an art in the Berber culture of North Africa especially for the Tuaregs. Animals are bred for food, clothes, bags, saddles, and water bags, rugs, shoes, wallets and many other items used in their everyday lives. Everything is done by hand. Sometimes you noticed some imperfections with the items, that is because no machines were used. Sometimes products are slightly different than what you see on the pictures, and that is for the same reason. Please let us know if you don't agree with that.
The leather for its flexibility and resistance is used for making a multitude of objects in Algeria (horse saddles, slippers, cushions, handbags, etc. ...). The most active centres are the highlands, the Hoggar and the Mzab. Big cities like Tlemcen, Constantine retained the expertise of artisan tannery (debbaghines), but now this knowledge is lost faced with competition from Europe.
The craft of Tuareg in this area presents originalities such as taghallabt, an object shaped wallet or aghreg, which is a travel bag. The leather of the region comes from goats or camels. It is coloured with copper oxide giving it green hues and decorated with symbols of the Tifinagh inspired alphabet.
In Kabylia, sheepskins and goatskins are also sometimes transformed to make bags and travel bags without decoration.Currently the Algerian leather sector is in crisis and needs rehabilitation due to globalization and severe competition (Inspiration from Wikipedia.org)

I am so pleased to send this email. The Nativity arrived today in perfect condition. It is beautiful. Thank you for helping me receive this Set. Please pass along my thanks to the artist. Does she make other figures? I would like to add some more 'village people' to the Set. This could be women and men bringing gifts to the woman and boy. Overall your web site is really interesting. I found the products you offer intriguing and your range is a variety of georgous things that any one would love to have. It is becoming a rare thing these days to be able to have handmade products in your home and as jewellery for that matter. Uniqueness usually comes at a high price but I am surprised to learn that your prices are very affordable. The only suggestions I could make are merely minor details and probably not so important such as the percentage figures on the sale discounts are rather small and don't really stand out, you might want to try enlarging those to be more visible to the naked eye. Other than that the site offers history, knowledge and basically good product.. so congratulations!

The customer service at Berbero Saharah is excellent. I ordered a beautiful tagine which I didn\'t realise was only for serving, not cooking. Luckily they had the foresight to hold off on sending it out and contacted me first to confirm whether I still wanted the tagine. I was able to exchange for another one which is for cooking, and am looking forward to enjoying lots of delicious meals!

Hi, Simply a brilliant service. The rug is in beautiful shape, the material is pristine and culture seeps through it. I'm in love with it and have received many good compliments and feedback from Canadian and non-Berber friends. Shipping was very reasonable and extremely quick (5 business days to Canada from Australia) as well considering Berbero Saharan charges you the exact price of shipping as opposed to marking it up like other websites!
