To celebrate African Culture in Australia, the Africa Festival is to be held on the 21 November 2010 at Hyde Park North in Central Sydney (between Park, Elizabeth & College Streets) from 9.30am to 5.00pm.
Over 20 market stalls will promote a variety of African products and service: art and craft, travel & tourism, food and drinks, textiles & clothing and cosmetic products, Live performances by dedicated African and Australian artists will entertain the attendees throughout the day.
African High Commissions and Embassy’s will participate in the festival. They are joined by businesses and their Diaspora represented in Australia. Each African country promotes its individual cultural identity and trade potential via trade stalls and on stage renditions of their national anthem and a presentation of their country’s flag. This is followed by live on stage music and dance performances by their African Diaspora. Australian and other artists and musicians will also be performing throughout the day.
The Africa Festival, is now in its seventh successful year, providing a SHOWCASE for and ACTIVELY MARKETING Africa’s development potential, to the Australian marketplace. The Festival is focused on encouraginginvestment in Africa and strongly endorses NEPAD (New Partnership for Africa’s Development). Investment through partnerships with responsible African companies and individuals provides skills and employment. This leads to long term growth and self sustainability. Investment through partnerships reduces failure, alleviates poverty and is key to a higher standard of living for all Africans in the long term.
The media and public are invited to assist in the development of Africa by covering and attending this annual event creating a greater awareness in Australia of Africa’s development and investment potential.
