This unique Kabyle/Berber hand of fatima Brooch is purely handmade by an Algerian artisan using pure silver 950, mediterranean red coral and colourful enamel. You sometimes get imperfections in their jewellery; that is because they are done separately by hand; which gives it the real sense of the Handmade. It could take them hours to make one single piece of art such as this one. It is made with passion and love to the culture. The artisans are only using pure products.
Meaning of Hand of Fatima:
The Khamsa or Hamsa, (in Hebrew: “Khamsa” in Arabic: Hamsa means “five”) is an icon in amulets, charms, and Jewellery, to protect against evil eyes.
An Islamic alternative name for this charm : “Eye of Fatima or the hand of Fatima” , regarding to Fatima Zahra, Prophet Muhammad’s daughter. The other meaning in Jewish is Miriam’s hand , as regards Miriam, the sister of Aaron and Moses. It is a sort of “protection of the hand” or “The hand of God“.
It symbolizes also the five books of the Torah to Jews and the Five Pillars of Islam for Sunni Muslims.

They excel in it all in keeping its traditional aspect of it, they are never mass produced and they are never identical as they have always been handmade one by one.

Patrick SUCH Secrétaire Général Sacem-Montpellier. Hacene, thank you for your notification, I shall look forward to receiving the Sand Roses. And it is exciting to think my belts are being handmade especially for me in Algeria - it is obviously a fascinating country. I'm too old to travel now, but love learning about places I have never seen. The photos (modern and old) are fascinating. I run a very tiny gift shop in a very tiny place (Lemon Tree Passage). The shop is part of the waterside unit my husband Ray and I live in. Not to make a profit, but to keep me occupied and interested as he is an invalid now. The community is getting familiar with the fact that The Little Gift Shoppe always has something unusual. Not that you need to know all that, but I had to compliment you on your web site. I don't know who has created it for you, or if indeed you have put it together yourself, but whichever applies, it is one of the best sites, both from content and composition that I have visited. I don't know if Algerians recognise our New Year celebrations, but I send you and your family my latest buzz phrase.... Have a great 2008!

I bought a hat and ceramic ashtray. I was very happy with the prices for handmade quality and style. I think it is a fabulous idea to sell handicrafts from Algeria and North Africa.
