It could be an inflated headrest, A woman`s hairstyle popular in the 18th century, characterized by high rolled puffs, a small cushioning used for relaxation, etc. In the BSH’s (Berbero Saharan Handicrafts) terminology, it is referring to the leather ottomans used for resting your legs and feet on or to sit on comfortably. It is usually made with sheep skin leather, cow skin leather or synthetic materials.
They are originated and made mainly in Algeria and Morocco and known under all different spellings such as Poufs, Poofs, Pouffes, poufes, ottomans, and so on.
We have gone to all different part of Algeria to collect all the possible Poufs you may find in North Africa. Different in size, shape, colours, etc and we are sure that there are a lot more that we couldn’t get our hands on.
The Poufs can be put in your living room, in your bedroom or simply wherever you need them, easy to roll around the house as they only weigh 5 kilograms maximum depending on what they are stuffed with. They make your home beautiful, add more style and very comfortable to relax on.
You can also add some genuine Berber rugs to bring more North African Berber style to your home. The Berbers that were the ancient and most powerful people thousands of years ago, let’s name few of them Massinissa, Jugurtha, Juba I and II, Dehia, Takfarinas, Shashenq, etc.
